As it was the last of the breezy mild days so I was keen to get out windsurfing today so when I checked the local webcam around 8 this morning and saw some kiters out at The Dip and then checked The Manor and it looked really good conditions, sunny with a good breeze from the sw with the tide still low. It was too good not to give an open sea session another go especially after yesterdays poor outing! I parked at Squiz Lane at 8.40, Mag was with me for her to have her daily walk as she set off for home with the breeze on her back. The flood gate is still closed so I have to climb over but soon have my board set up and I took a chance again with my 5.5, today it was pretty perfect for most of the session, only going patchy a couple of times when the heavy rain passed through! I set off in lovely sunshine and was hoping to do 10 long runs to get a good hour, I took it easy for a couple of runs but soon found my sea legs and things were going really well, sailing broad out a mile and a half out and beating back, I had seen a seal splash and after doing 5 runs I hit something under water and I ended up in the water, my only dunking of the session, I am hgoping it was a fish and not the seal! I then struggled to get going for a couple of runs before the wind returned and a winger and Al Wiz ventured out. I then did a couple of long broad runs, so much fun and it was great to be back onn the sea in the waves:) Sadly the rain arrived, quite heavy too as I reached The Spa theatre and the wind and sea picked up as I started the beat back. The wind had swung so I could get back in one tack out to wadgate post as the wind eased down and I floundered back, time to call it a day! The rain cleared as I was packing up and the wind returned as another winger headed out. Then home for lunch and off to Lidl for a big shop, we know how to live!
Headed down to Felixstowe view point to catch the sunset:)
